River Valley & Cavallaro Foods, a growing specialty foods distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for a full time Grocery Sales Representative / Merchandiser to join our Independent Sales Team and serve our customers in the Rochester area.

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

The successful candidate demonstrates attention to detail, exceptional visual presentation skills, and the business acumen to meet customer needs through active listening and open, effective communication.

Essential Functions

--- Consistently deliver exceptional customer service and build productive customer relationships.
--- Stock product, arrange product on shelves, and rotate product to ensure freshness.
--- Build displays, implement planograms, and reset sections to add items or optimize shelf placement.
--- Cleaning and dusting of product and shelving.
--- Order product to maintain inventory levels, as needed.
--- Perform additional job duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

--- Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or equivalent
--- At least one year of experience in a merchandising or customer service role; grocery experience preferred
--- Must have a valid state issued driver's license and reliable personal transportation
--- Daily travel required, must be available for occasional, position dependent overnight travel
--- Available to work weekends and/or a variable schedule as required
--- Able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds
--- Able to stand, walk, lift and bend to service lower shelves for extended periods of time
--- Ability to effectively communicate and present information
--- Strong organizational skills and a fundamental understanding of sales processes
--- Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in managing numerous, competing priorities
--- Proven critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
--- Strong computer skills - Email/Outlook, Electronic Ordering/PDA, Word, Excel

Physical Requirements

--- Ability to walk/stand 8-10hrs per day
--- Ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs
--- Ability to push/pull heavily loaded product carts
--- Repetitive bending/stooping/kneeling to fill shelves
--- Ability to move and climb ladders/step stools
