Overview: Will become familiar with the operations and procedures necessary to originate permanent FHA/VA and conventional residential mortgage loans. Will participate in business development activities in support of mortgage origination and new business with other financial institutions, mortgage companies and mortgage brokers. Responsible for meeting and maintaining registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act. Primary Responsibilities: Participates in on-the-job training specific to origination's/products in region of hire. Training will include technical and formal classroom training, mentoring, Mortgage Originator/Account Executive shadowing and instruction on basic mortgage information, product, new loan, sales, and personal computer programs. May begin to proactively call existing accounts to encourage continued applicant flow and ensure quality customer service. Participates with an assigned Mortgage Originator/Account Executive for a period of time as needed, during which practical application will occur. Will provide technical support to assigned Mortgage Originator/Account Executive, implement sales techniques, develop contacts with Realtors, builders and developers and brokers. Interview applicants to determine acceptable levels of risk, obtain and analyze pertinent financial and credit data. May process and follow-up on mortgage loan broker applications to determine approval or denial. Participates by observation, in the various Mortgage positions by learning business functions and responsibilities of processors, closers, underwriters, and appraisers. May serve as the point of communication between mortgage loan brokers, account executives, secondary marketing, underwriting and closing within assigned area. Assists as requested in various projects relating to assigned functional area within the bank. Responsible for meeting and maintaining registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act. Scope of Responsibilities: Will work daily with various levels of individuals within the bank in order to become familiar with the policies and procedures and regulations governing department assigned as well as bank-wide. Will interact with individuals and teams internally and within the community assigned, developing new relationships and maintaining existing relationships. Participate in training activities in various locations in order to receive on the job training. Supervisor/Managerial Responsibilities: None Education and Experience Required: Associates degree or two (2) years relevant experience. Sales acumen preferred. Familiarity with Windows and PC software programs. Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a general knowledge of financials. General knowledge software programs utilized by Residential/Wholesale Mortgage Department. Education and Experience Preferred: Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong mathematical skills. Self-motivated, well-organized individual. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to follow through on details to completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under critical time constraints. Ability to function professionally at many different levels (clients, management, and peers).
