Learn more at harris.com Job Description: The Senior Electrical Engineering Manager will be part of a larger Integrated Project Team (IPT), developing an exciting new multichannel radio product line. The individual will manage a highly driven engineering team composed of both digital hardware and FPGA design engineers, towards a fully validated product to baselined requirements. The position requires leading the team to integrate the latest technologies, working design trades against risk, while focusing on continuous improvement to attain the team s goals. The individual will also focus on FPGA development, learning and growing our current FPGA design processes towards best practices across the Communications Systems business segment. This position is highly collaborative, focusing on successful product development & project execution within the HW/FPGA team, energizing and empowering the team towards common goals, aligning the use of processes, tools, and metrics that support project planning, execution, and reporting for engineering product and program development. Job Responsibilities include: Lead a digital hardware engineering team developing multiple circuit boards/flexes/cables through product inception, requirements management, design validation, completing a solid new product introduction into the Operations/Manufacturing. Lead an FPGA engineering team developing FPGA & CPLD designs from requirements analysis & design, to implementation, simulation and release, learning current processes, and providing process improvement across the segment. Optimize and harmonize engineering execution across the Integrated Project Team for project management of scope, budget, and schedule, with corresponding metrics. The use of earned value scheduling and metrics is currently successfully used across the IPT. Assess and establish project status and reporting that align with key project milestones and financial performance Support risk management and critical path scheduling standards for projects Manage discipline tools, including harmonization and implementation across the Integrated Project Team Establish strategic working relationships with engineering project managers as well as functional teams, including Finance, Product Line Management, Program Management, and Manufacturing/Operations, who are key contributors to the product and program development processes Leverage Harris Business Excellence (HBX) tools and processes to architect practical solutions and methodologies that are scalable and can achieve the required organizational objectives Perform project planning, tracking and oversight activities in a CMMI Level 3 process oriented environment. Report project and organizational status to management. Support the management and oversight of subcontractors and support strategic sourcing objectives. Facilitate organization direction, priorities, communications and individual growth. Qualifications: Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Engineering 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience with Bachelor's Degree or 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience with a Master's Degree 5+ years of demonstrated experience in engineering hardware and project management illustrating proven ability to plan, schedule, and track multiple projects to successful completion Preferred Additional Skills: Digital hardware development experience, with the ability to manage a team of digital design engineers through product development and introduction to manufacturing. FPGA development experience, with the ability to manage a team of FPGA developers on both product development, and FPGA development excellence. Experience with requirements management throughout the hardware and FPGA product development or program life cycle Experience with product development process for defense environments, and tools that allow for development assessment, tracking, and reporting Ability to partner with process owners and team leaders to identify, recommend, and select business process improvement projects, leveraging relevant business acumen Proven and effective communications skills Six Sigma training or strong working knowledge Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Experience with process improvements in a CMMI and ISO9001 work environment Please be aware that many of our positions require a security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
