Our client is an electrical contracting firm serving residential, commercial, industrial and institutional customers with new construction and maintenance requirements in the Rochester area and Western New York since 1981.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Foreman is responsible for coordination and supervision of the crew on their job site including helpers, apprentices and journey-workers in the assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial, industrial and large multi-family settings per NEC/NFPA 70E standards and job specification. The Electrical Foreman will coordinate the timeline to meet the construction schedule of the project by managing the crew, materials and equipment in an organized manner on budget, on time and in accordance with the project requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

--- Provide daily direction and communication to employees ensuring employees have adequate tools and materials and that employees follow policies and procedures per code and job specification.

--- Perform daily huddles (i.e. up and coming tasks).

--- Accountable for daily logs for area, providing input and communicating with immediate supervisor.

--- Encourage, motivate, and coach employees to maintain a high quality work environment so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level.

--- Take a piece of the overall job on larger projects such as one-line, fire alarm, branch circuits, site lighting, equipment.

--- Participate and take notes in meetings.

--- Preplan the project to stay at least two weeks ahead of crew ensuring the work and material are available for the crew; requisitions materials as needed.

--- Work closely with supervisor to develop and maintain 3-week look ahead schedule.

--- Prioritize according to the needs of the project and the customer.

--- Update and maintain accurate as-built drawings and panel schedules for their assigned task.

--- Take accountability and responsibility for quality control and productivity in area ensuring employees do it safe, do it right, then work on speed.

--- Create punch list for crew and follows up to ensure it is completed.

--- Communicate goals for the jobsite to employees working at all levels

--- Communicate and coordinate with other trades for the project.

--- Lead by example generating high quality work in alliance with the vision and mission

--- Monitor and enforce the safety standards and sets exemplary quality of work

--- Orientate employees to safety, logistics and scope on the jobsite.

--- Effectively communicate and define employees role with them on the project, ensuring employee understands how they fit into the overall job and how the foreman wants their work done.

--- Effectively communicate with superiors.

--- Supervise crews participating when necessary in installing raceways, pulling wire, and mounting equipment, training apprentices and journeyman to do the same.

--- Instruct crew in techniques and procedures employed in the electrical trade; inspect all work to ensure the work confirms to the projects specifications.

--- May perform hot work if qualified and trained with all necessary precautions in place.

--- Assist apprentices in completing Apprenticeship Paperwork including hours and reviews.

--- Abide by specifications, value engineering and contract documents for installations.

--- Use electrical formulas to figure out pipe fill, device and panel size, and disconnect.

--- Lay out and organize assigned tasks to helpers, apprentices and journey workers.

--- Responsible to make sure company vehicle is properly cleaned and maintained.

--- Maintain a work area that is neat and presentable to customers and outsiders who may be in the work area at any time. Leave work site clean and tidy each day at completion of assigned work.

--- Maintain professional growth and development by keeping abreast of changing technology and the national electrical code.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

--- High School Diploma or GED required.

--- Minimum of 5 years of commercial electrical work experience preferred

--- Vocational or technical training in electrical and/or industrial maintenance and repair preferred.

--- NYS Apprenticeship Training preferred.

--- Preferred Safety Training: OSHA 10 or 30 hour, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout.

--- Demonstrated leadership skills are required.

--- Valid NYS drivers' license free from major infractions required.

--- Experience using hand tools, small power tools, large power tools, reading contract drawings, studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures.

--- Experience installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment following drawings of electrical layouts and building permits.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises a staff that includes helpers, apprentices, and journeymen. Supervisory responsibilities include instructing and training in work methods; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; conducting performance evaluations; recommending salary adjustments; making effective recommendations regarding promotions, making final decisions on promotions; determining disciplinary actions regarding unsatisfactory employees; and making final decision to terminate unsatisfactory employees.

Special Requirements:

--- Ability to work overtime, early starts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

--- Must be able to commute up to two hours from home.

--- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

--- Proficient in all types of electrical installations and wiring methods.

--- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, both internally and with all external customers.

--- Assessment/evaluation skills.

--- Ability to analyze and solve problems.

--- Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.

--- Knowledge of all OSHA, GE, and customer safety requirements and company policies.

--- Ability to recognize safety hazards and perform such work in a manner that minimizes or eliminates those hazards.

--- Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment.

--- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers.

--- Ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed accurately and efficiently to prevent injury to staff and damage to equipment.

--- Must have knowledge of basic math and reading skills.

--- Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.

--- Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.

Equipment, Machines And Software Used:

Ability to set up and operate electrical equipment and tools, hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.

Safety Equipment: Ability to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), and respirator when required.

Mental Requirements:

--- Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment. And/or planning or directing fairly complex work methods or operations that obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product.

Physical Requirements: Job is physically demanding

--- Ability to climb ladders and steep stairs, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crawl, crouch, kneel, bend or stoop, and perform repetitive motions of the hands, arms, and/or fingers.

--- Ability to work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by oneself.

--- Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.)

--- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Environmental Conditions:

Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow. The worker is regularly exposed to occupational hazards which require special precautions and occasional exposure to serious injury and subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions such as, electrical current, noise, fumes, dust, moving parts and equipment, and exposure to outdoor weather elements.%12861215% %%install%%
