**Position Title:**

Financial Analyst


Advancement Services and Administration

**Job Responsibilities:**

Responsible for essential operations for the Division of University Advancement including financial compliance and internal controls; project/gift account management; and contract workflow. Produces and analyzes monthly and ad hoc reports, and makes recommendations to leadership on continuous improvement programs based on the report's findings. Reports and provides primary coverage for key operations as a backup to the Financial Operations Director. University Advancement operates on a $13 million budget with a staff of 100 people generating 7,000+ financial transactions annually.

  • Generates and analyzes monthly and ad-hoc reports including financial; facilities; and national benchmarking. Prepares recommendations to leadership for the division's continuous improvement initiatives based on report analysis.
  • Drives a culture with end-users to develop, implement and administer internal control policies and processes for the division to improve operational activities such as procurement card and travel expense reports; Oracle account management; financial transactions; and records retention.
  • Manages the division's procard program for all University Advancement departments, including card management, renewal, and purchasing policies.
  • Builds complex financial reports for individual departments in order to facilitate budget and forecasting analysis models.
  • Oversees and reconciles one of the university's gift suspense accounts including analysis and reporting for the institute's electronic payment gateways and the university's alumni event system.
  • Partners with the Financial Operations Director in the annual budget process.
  • Generates account reports and prepares journal entries for administrators and leadership.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions ensuring compliance with RIT procurement policies, including bid requirements, submission of exceptions to bidding forms, etc.
  • Provides primary coverage for key operations as a backup to the Financial Operations Director.
  • Analyze variance between actual and projected financial results to promote recommendations for suggested financial direction.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders, while supporting necessary changes and proactively leading new initiatives and process changes in relation to fiscal awareness.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the Controller's office processes affecting University Advancement, including the preparation of journal and budget entries, accounts payable (invoice payment forms, purchase orders, and travel expense reports), and procurement card transactions.
  • Mentor division staff on financial operations when needed.
  • Develops and administers staff training related to financial, compliance, and internal control processes.

    **Required Qualifications:**

    Minimum 3 years of experience analyzing financial and operational data

    Bachelor's degree required: Business, Accounting, or related field, **OR** an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

    Advance level user of Excel and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications

    Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle or experience with financial accounting systems

    Experience or aptitude toward analyzing workflow processes, diagnosing redundancies, identifying current technologies with an emphasis toward improving work productivity

    Effective written and oral communication

    Excellent organizational and customer service skills
