Location: Rochester, NY Category: Technical Posted On: Tue Jun 7 2022 Job Description: This position requires an applicant that can collaborate with a cross-functional multidisciplinary team supporting photonics integrated circuit technologies.SUNY Poly is looking for an experienced Photonic test engineer to characterize and validate performance of silicon-based active and passive integrated photonic devices. The applicant will own device testing at the die-level, wafer-level, and packaged part level. This job requires working closely with manufacturing, development, and packaging groups. The Test engineer will define and develop test methods to work with customers to test their package assemblies.The Test engineer should develop and qualify the test protocols and have demonstrated capability to write or revise test programs as needed. Experience working with Photonics test equipment to measure optical, electro-optic and RF characteristics is required. Experience coding algorithms in Python are desired. The Test engineer will design and execute experiments, analyze test data, conduct data reviews, and make recommendations for failure analysis and debugging unexpected results and discrepancies.Responsibilities also include:Master usage of photonic and electrical test equipment including BERT, AWG, Digital Signal Analysis for eye diagrams, RF and Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Real Time Oscilloscopes, Lasers, Optical Power meters, Polarization control, automated wafer and die prober, manual die prober.Extract and statistically analyze key performance parameters for both active and passive photonic devices from measured data. Integrated devices: waveguides, edge couplers, grating couplers, photodiodes, optical modulators both Mach-Zehnder and ring based, lasers, SOAs, etc. Key performance parameters: propagation loss, insertion loss, PDL, bandwidth, responsivity, dark current, VpiL, bit-error-rate, Q-factor, LIV, etc.Prepare reports summarizing the analysis of the results.Provide the above support across multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining both project schedules and measurement dependability.Perform the above in both ordinary lab spaces as well as clean room facilities.
