Job Description:
JOB SUMMARYThe refrigeration technician will oversee the safe
operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of a large-scale
ammonia refrigeration system, and provide assistance to the Chief
Stationary Engineer and Maintenance Engineer to ensure assets are
managed in accordance with IIAR, EPA, OSHA and applicable State and
Local Codes.STATUS: Full TimeLOCATION: Rochester, NYDEPARTMENT:
Utilities MaintenanceSHIFT: 12-hour rotating shifts; weekends,
holidays and OT as neededJOB TYPE: UnionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS &
RESPONSIBILITIESOversee and manage the ammonia refrigeration,
glycol, and CO2 systems. This includes monitoring, trending,
troubleshooting and repairs on compressors, condensers, fans, and
their cooling systemsLog hourly rounds on all refrigeration, air,
glycol, CO2, and related equipmentOperate and maintain various
rotary screw and reciprocating compressorsResponsible for
housekeeping and clean-up of refrigeration machine rooms, and all
equipment assigned to each individualMaintain plant air systems and
compressorsPerform daily monitoring and water testing of condensers
and pasteurizersLog on into computerized maintenance management
system (CMMS) on a daily basis for PM work orders and
trainingCommunicate daily all pertinent information regarding
system operation and maintenance to other operators, department
managers, and maintenance teamsAssist the team with maintaining the
Process Safety Management Program (PSM)Adhere to Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMPs), properly wear Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE), and follow all safety and company policies at all
timesPerform other various job duties as neededActively exhibit a

environmentEDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCEMust pass a City of
Rochester R-4 refrigeration exam within 1 year OR hold a minimum
R-4 refrigeration licenseMust be able to pass a physical exam for
SCBA useMust obtain OSHA HAZMAT 24hr. certification within 90 days
(Company will pay for the training/certification)Must be willing to
join RETA (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association)Must
be willing to attend all safety programs offered through
employerPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSMust be
able to push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, lift at least 25 lbs., and
operate hand tools and machinery as neededMust be able to
stand/walk for long periods of time on concrete floors (up to 10
hours per day)Exposure to outside weather during portions of shift,
brewery environment, cleaning chemicals, crowded physical
conditions, moderate-to-high noise levels, and extreme fluctuation
of temperaturesRequired to pass a negative pressure respiratory
