Position Summary
A monitor is responsible for assisting the Driver in transporting individuals with developmental disabilities to a designated destination in a safe manner.
Primary Responsibilities
--- Assists Driver to transport ambulatory and wheelchair passengers to a destination determined by the Operations team.
--- Load clients on and off company vehicles using proper techniques.
--- Aid passengers boarding and disembarking the vehicle. Passengers may require assistance with walking or with wheelchair maneuvering.
--- Secure wheelchairs in the company vehicle using proper techniques and ensures passengers are secured during transport.
--- Ensure that all passengers are off the vehicle at the conclusion of transport.
--- Direct Driver as they back-up vehicle.
Skills & Abilities
--- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
--- Push and pull a minimum of 250 lbs.
--- Bend and squat while negotiating the small confines of vehicle while attaching and detaching securement system.
--- Sit for extended periods of time.
--- Effectively communicate with co-workers and others, communicate basic ideas through writing such as completing forms, provide basic information as well as communicate routine polices and procedures.
--- Be able to deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors in a tactful and professional manner.
--- Able to climb stairs to enter and exit a vehicle
--- Able to take clients up-down stairs in a wheelchair when necessary
--- Required to work both inside and outside; perform in all types of weather conditions including snow, rain, sun and darkness.
Qualifications
--- Age 18
--- High School Diploma or GED
--- Speak and write English
--- Able to work legally in the USA
