Job Description:
Summary:
The Lifeguard is responsible for daily and routine maintenance of
the swimming pool and surrounding area during their shift. American
Red Cross or YMCA training certification in Life guarding required;
American Red Cross certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid are
required. Thorough knowledge of water safety practices, rules and
regulations; thorough knowledge of water rescue and first aid
procedures and techniques; ability to communicate effectively;
physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position;
positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team are
essential. Lifeguard is responsible for overall safety of the
individuals in the pool area. Follows all safety and Department of
Health regulations. Experience working with individuals with
developmental disabilities preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
Completes all required procedures to ensure proper maintenance of
the pool.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of guests by overseeing pool
activity and enforcing all rules and regulations.
Following all guidelines in case of an emergency - administering
appropriate First Aid and obtaining immediate medical
assistance.
Completing all required documentation related to pool use.
Maintains program area and equipment, completing requests for new
supplies and/or work orders.
Performs any other duties as required by assigned supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently and motivate others.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Education and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
American Red Cross or YMCA training certification in Life
Guarding
American Red Cross certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must meet applicable Vehicle Operator Requirements. (NYS Driver's
License required)
Adhere to all CDS Life Transitions, Inc. and affiliates policies
and procedures.

Attend mandatory education and training modules as scheduled;
obtain and maintain required certifications.
Maintain all required certifications/training by State regulations
and CDS policy
Act as a professional representative of CDS Life Transitions, Inc.
and affiliates in regards to appearance, behavior, temperament,
communication, language, and dress.
