      • Community InvolvementScope of Position : This is a technical intern position where you, the machine learning modeling engineer, will be expected to work within the Machine Learning team and collaborate closely with other teams at Corning to build machine learning models to solve commercial, manufacturing, engineering, development, or research problems. Partnering with Cornings businesses and the Science & Technology division, you will combine leading edge manufacturing technologies, engineering expertise and business knowledge with your machine learning experience to make meaningful business impacts.Day to Day Responsibilities: Partner closely with other scientists/engineers and interns across research, development, and engineering organizations Use knowledge of physics, math, statistics, and advanced analytics to build deep understanding and enable innovation in a selected domain Prepare raw datasets and make them ready for analysis Analyze the datasets and develop analytical and machine learning models Interpret the data analysis results in RD&E and/or business context Communicate project status and updates to both the project team and to management, including memos, technical reports and verbal presentationsTravel Requirements: Minimal, some project specific travel might be expectedRequired Education: Pursuing a bachelors degree or above in machine learning or related fields with a preference for students who have some formal training in machine learning and application of it in scientific disciplines such as physics, materials, engineering or business analyticsRequired Years and Area of Experience: None, previous experience in machine learning model development and programming is a plus.Required Skills: Strong programming using either Python (or R) and familiarity with different machine learning and deep learning packages Strong communication skills (oral and written) Creative and innovative problem-solving ability Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions Results oriented and high level of dedication. Able to work in any stage of innovation and handle risk of failure.
