We have a tremendous opportunity for an Assistant Supervisor in our DAS Montezuma Residential!
Hillside's Developmental Abilities Services (DAS) are designed to meet the needs of youth with cognitive limitations, a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, behavior challenges and mental health concerns. The program is designed to help youth develop the skills necessary to move to a lower level of care and/or to be assessed You will be responsible for supervising Youth Care Professionals and Direct Support Professionals in the performance of their daily responsibilities. You will be part of the direct care staff schedule and generally performs the duties of a Youth Care Professional and Direct Support Professional. You will support Hillside's Philosophy of Care and work to remove systemic barriers to ensure implementation. As the Assistant Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing up to 15 staff members and clients.

  • Residential supervises unit staff in the implementation of treatment goals and objectives.
  • Oversee schedules for both the staff and clients to ensure adequate coverage and make certain they are well organized and clearly communicated.
  • Implement treatment goals and objectives amongst staff
  • Ensure that Hillside policies, procedures and all applicable governmental laws/regulations/guidelines are followed
  • Manage emergency situations that could require flexibility of both time and area assignment
  • Recognize and address aggressive student/youth behavior and is trained and proficient in behavior management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), including the use of physical interventions(holds)
  • Perform all YCP functions as required
  • Demonstrate an awareness and sensitivity to cultural and social variations and shows respect for individual differences.
  • Ability to maintain learning including acquiring, understanding and interpreting information in subject areas for position
  • Maintain an excellent attendance and willingness to be flexible in work scheduling and consistent follow-through on commitments that is demonstrated on the job
  • Can work efficiently and effectively as a member of a team
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned


    • High School diploma or GED and 3 + years of experience with direct care work in a Residential setting or; a minimum of 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree
    • Must have a valid NY State Driver's license with clean driving record
    • May require balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. a short distance.
    • May be required to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 and 200 lbs. and guide them safely to the floor. In some circumstances, restraints can last up to 15 minutes and may require repetition as necessary.
