All candidates must APPLY ONLINE at http://pgm.atsondemand.com/Position SummaryAssembles, disassembles and modifies mechanical systems and subassemblies by following specific instructions.May be required to remove and recycle debris. Attention is required to prevent damage to operator, product or equipment during activity. May make necessary minor equipment adjustments to ensure satisfactory production. Inspects work visually for obvious defects.Organizational InterrelationshipsThe Assembler reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The Assembler interacts with secondary operations department personnel, as well as other manufacturing (CNC, grinding and tool room departments), quality assurance and engineering personnel. There is no regular customer or supplier contact.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to adhering to the policies of the company outlined in the PGM Employee Handbook, an individual serving in the capacity of Assembler shall be consistently able to:a) Assembles and disassembles large shelters, complex subassemblies, chassis and mechanical parts using air tools, riveters and riv nut tools.b) Reviews modification and rework instructions or discrepancy reports, engineering change orders and preliminary rework notices. Modifies or reworks mechanical assemblies by removing, repairing and replacing parts, cables or harnesses.c) Routes large cables and harnesses using tie wraps and straps in Radar Systems including AC outlet wiring.d) Operates various power tools used in the assembly of all types of hardware as identified on the supplied parts lists.e) Performs, before shipment to the customer, paint touch-up to assemblies by using spray guns and airbrushes.f) Utilizes torches and plastic body filler to straighten and repair sheet metal punctures. Applies adhesives to gaskets and grommets.g) Works from mechanical blueprints, process sheets, sketches and written or verbal instructions.h) Understand basic Vantage system for time reporting purposes.i) Understand basic SPC for data collection and analysis.j) Understand how to use elementary statistical tools for problem identification and analysis.k) Assist other department operators when required or directed.l) Perform any other assigned duties in accordance with instruction provided by the supervisor.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education, Training and/or ExperienceMinimum skill requirements are:* Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and layout drawings.* Ability to perform spray paint touch-up. Ability to use adhesives.* Knowledge of mechanical rework operations.Must be able to meet specified certification per company and customer standards. Normally acquired through two (2) years of mechanical assembly experience.Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be satisfied by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Specific visual abilities required for this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to monitor product visually.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
