Job Description:
SUMMARYThe Income Specialist is responsible for increasing
income and employment opportunities available to homeless and
formerly people with varied barriers including
disabilities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Assesses participants
individual needs, including employability or eligibility for
SSI/SSDI, and develops individualized income action plans for each
participant.* Assists participants in applying for emergency income
benefits through social services including TANF or GA.* Assists
with all aspects of job readiness, including resume writing, job
searches, interview skills development, access to interview attire,
etc.* Connects participants to job training and vocational
resources as needed.* Establishes and maintains strong working
relationships with employers and relevant community agencies.*
Works with local employers and community partners to increase
employment readiness and job opportunities.* Provides one-on-one
and group employment-related support and trainings on an on-going
basis.* Ensures that participants have the resources needed to
maintain employment.* Uses SOAR model to help qualifying
participants pursue SSI or SSDI.* Completes and collects all
necessary documentation to submit SOAR Application on behalf of
participants.* Maintains detailed case notes and records and
ensures that all program and regulatory requirements are met.*
Assists the Director with Quality Assurance and tracking of Key
Performance Indicators* Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE AND
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor Degree in a relevant field or
equivalent experience* A minimum of one-year of work experience in
job placement for people with disabilities and/or successful use of
the SOAR model to assist homeless and formerly homeless individuals
in securing SSI or SSDI* NYS Drivers License* Availability to work
evenings and weekends as requested* Ability to obtain First Aid and
CPR certification within 90 days of hire* Ability to pass criminal
background check* Strong organizational and communication skills*
Working knowledge of MS Office suite* Proof of COVID 19 Vaccine or
Approved Exemption
