    The Leader, Data Governance provides leadership and applies broad expertise in Information Technology disciplines to provide a vital force in the growth and delivery of Enterprise Data Governance and Data Literacy Programs. In addition to team management and personnel development, this person is responsible to build trust and credibility with business and IT partners. These relationships, combined with business awareness and a value focus, enable the candidate to influence culture and leverage MVP's data assets to drive value. This individual is a principal in providing counsel and direction for the prioritization of data assets; improvement of data quality and accessibility; workforce education and adoption, as well as functional requirements to promote effective data use with accessible and curated data sources. An understanding of both the technical points of data management, as well as the business drivers for data and solutions, is a core capability.
  • Maintain value focus and provide leadership, vision, and expertise to define strategic and tactical direction for MVP's Data Governance and Data Literacy Programs.
  • Create plans; direct committees and Operating Framework; manage team; drive issue resolution; maintain performance metrics; lead Program and Project planning for Data Governance and Data Literacy Programs; drive to increase enterprise capabilities and maturity.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Data Governance best practices, principles, IT standards, and IT best practices in complex IT organizations.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Business Case development, system implementations, requirements analysis, database design, data reporting and data analysis.
  • Understand business drivers and Operations; exhibit executive presence, strong relationship building aligned with business partners, a focus on collaboration ensuring executive engagement, strategic alignment, business value and delivering a pervasive Data Governance/Literacy culture to MVP.
  • Drive Data Governance solutions through policy development, data asset metadata documentation, procedural standards, by working with colleagues in the business, IT Development, Compliance, Security, Data Warehousing, communications/training, among others.
  • Drive development or procurement of tools to document data asset catalogues, glossaries, dictionaries, etc. in support of Data Governance and Data Literacy goals.
  • Understand regulatory and security requirements for data related to the Healthcare industry; ensure compliance and proper governance occurs.


  • OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate the importance of listening with the Team, Colleagues, and business partners. Promote a culture of support, respect, and active listening to ensure ideas are heard and considered for their merit.
  • Act autonomously with minimal supervision. Inform management at the right level with appropriate frequency; know when to escalate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    ­­­Minimum Education:
    Bachelor or Associates Degree, Computer Science or Engineering a plus, but not required.

    Minimum Experience:
    7+ years of work experience in a complex IT environment including Computer Systems, Data Management, IT Management, IT best practices and standards, budgeting, business relationship management, team financials. Finance, Insurance, Manufacturing, Technology, or Healthcare industries is a plus.
    A management career track progression of increasingly responsible roles in Lead Technical Analysis, Team Leadership, Team Management, Business Relationship Management, Project Management and Program Management.
    A technical career track progression including application implementation, production support, relational data base concepts, data warehouse development, end-use reporting, Data Governance best practices.

Physical demands/Working conditions:
  • Physical office or work from home setting.
  • 40-hour onsite or remote work week with on-call availability as needed.
  • Limited travel between MVP offices, including overnight travel.
