About the opportunity

Ellucian and the Ethos Platform team is seeking a Software Developer to contribute to Ethos Integration, which is our SaaS-based hub-and-spoke integration platform. This individual will work with a highly skilled team and be hands-on in actively building and maintaining the solutions. Working within agile environment, you and the team will deliver value to customers every 2 weeks.

• Design, develop, test and implement high quality enterprise software, as a member of a creative, agile development team creating solutions that exceed customer expectations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced delivery focused environment
• Support customer adoption of new solutions
• Participate in periodic Tier 3 level support rotation and bi-weekly release cycles.
• Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies and functionality
• Work with ambiguity and changing priorities yet always focused on the end result
• Oriented towards problem-solving and analyzing technical and functional impacts
• Demonstrate ownership from specification review to final testing
• Actively participate within agile development ceremonies (sprint reviews, planning, scrums)
• Frequently learn new technologies/libraries/concepts and share knowledge with your colleagues
• Present information with confidence at team meetings
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, Developers and fellow Designers to determine the optimum user interface design, workflow, and functionality of software products

What you will bring

• 2+ years of professional experience
• Degree in computer science, software engineering or similar course of study
• Highly motivated self-starter with advanced capability to quickly learn, and work with new technologies and complex technical environments, including a variety of databases and operating systems
• Some experience building web services and/or cloud-based software
• Amazon Web Services or equivalent (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• Experience with Agile software development practices such as XP, Lean Agile, Scrum, and Kanban
• Familiar with common data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented and basic functional idioms
• Working knowledge of git and collaborative development practices (e.g., Pull Requests, feature branches)
• Development and delivery experience with multiple programming languages, including Javascript, Node.js, Java, PL/SQL, and HCL.
• Comfortable with asynchronous code execution (e.g., Promises, callbacks, coroutines, threads, processes)
• Working knowledge of at least one relational database and one NoSQL database
• Working knowledge of REST, JSON, XML and asynchronous communication (e.g., queues, topics, streams)
• Experience with full-stack architecture and development
• WCAG Accessibility Standards
• Internationalization (i18n)
• Microservices architecture
• Reactive Programming
• Demonstrated ability to author highly-readable code
• Exposure to DevOps tools and processes
• Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in Higher Education Administration is a plus.
