The Program Manager (ERP) is a leader within a cross-functional
team where teamwork, collaboration, balancing competing priorities,
and continuous learning are the norm.
Primary goals of the position are to:
Provide oversight for a strategic ERP project containing
multiple, simultaneous sub-projects to achieve enterprise-wide
Interface between team and governance groups to communicate
executive-level program and project information for planning,
budgeting, metrics, and process improvement
Direct team on the Project applications of appropriate project
methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile) to different project
scenarios based on objectives, delivery timeframes, and project
Coach, mentor, and manage teams on methodologies and techniques
used in project management, focusing on ERP (Supply Chain
Management, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting)
and Clinical & Integrated Clinical projects with counter
dependencies such as eRecord
Collaborate with the Supply Chain group, UIT Workday/Finance,
eRecord, Project Portfolio Office and other groups within ISD to
continuously improve the communications, tools and methodologies
used in ISD program and project management
Track, report, recommend, and implement recommendations needed
to improve upon project metrics within the assigned functional
Coordinate across related projects to develop and distribute
program status communications to include milestones, deliverables,
budget, risks, and issues
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with operational
leaders and ISD leaders, including Sr Directors and Directors for
ongoing communication and collaboration
Position works under the direction of the Senior Director, Core
Clinical Systems, with close work relationship to Director, Supply
Chain Management Position works in collaboration with team leads,
application build teams, and business, clinical, financial,
operational, and UIT stakeholders.
Responsibilities include oversight of several related projects
and coaching, mentoring, and management of team members. Program
oversight includes, but is not limited to, projects involving
business, financial and clinical applications, vendor selection,
tools and platform implementation, , and operational change
Follows and contributes to the development and improvement of
guidelines, standards, and conventions for project management and
business requirements documentation.
Maintains portfolio dashboard for ERP and closely related
projects and acts as liaison to Sr. Director for project management
Manages related projects as a program, providing oversight and
initial escalation point for project managers and stakeholders.
Educates team members on appropriate use of various project
Coordinates with Finance on appropriate classification of work,
vendor contracts and invoices, budget tracking, and capital program
Coordinates as needed with Directors, Architects, Team Leads,
and Project Directors to ensure project teams follow department and
URMC processes for quality assurance, migrations and promotions,
end-user acceptance/validation, training, and support.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT :
Provides senior level project management skills as needed for
select ERP and related projects to supplement project team
Facilitates project and team meetings using effective meeting
techniques for objectives, agendas, participants, and meeting
Manages all phases of assigned tasks/projects, meets established
deadlines, and maintains flexibility and professionalism while
managing multiple priorities.
Creates, consolidates, and maintains project methodology tools
and templates for the ISD Sr. Director and the ERP project Director
and team. Adds content specific to ERP and related Clinical and
Integrated Clinical needs as needed to assist in scope, risk, and
Assists junior project managers in orienting team members to
project tools and templates.
Conducts regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions with
project managers and other team members related to project
Keeps current with business and strategic goals.
Stays apprised of team’s roles, processes, tools, and
architecture to better understand how the team works together to
meet users' needs.
Attends webinars, reads case studies and white papers, and
participates in other free or low-cost opportunities to further
refine skills and stay apprised on healthcare, project management,
and program management topics.
Communicates and educates at the user’s level, in the context of
the user’s business environment.
Builds and maintains internal departmental relationships.
Maintains flexibility and professionalism while managing
Makes presentations to URMC Executive Steering Team for the ERP
project and key Senior Leaders
Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested.
Follows all URMC administrative standards (such as timely time
sheet preparations, completing time away requests, completing
annual mandatory educational requirements, etc.).
Adheres and subscribes to the URMC Values as stated in the
Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences or equivalent; 4-5
years management level experience in a financial service setting
including automated systems; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Healthcare
Administration, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics,
Statistics, Information Systems, or Engineering; Master’s degree
5-10 years IT project management experience
3-5 years program management experience or related experience
managing or mentoring other project managers
5-10 years’ experience with office productivity tools including
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint
3-5 years’ experience as a business analyst, systems analyst,
interface/integration developer, or report analyst/developer (Epic
1-3 years’ experience as a trainer or facilitator
Highly organized with proven ability to meet deadlines,
prioritize workload, and manage resources and time effectively
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and effective
communication skills, written and oral
Position involves successfully completing training and may
include achieving (and maintaining) certifications related to
project management and ERP. Certifications may require two to eight
weeks of training and often include out-of-state travel.
Project management and/or program management certification from
PMI or a similar organization
Agile or scrum training or certification
Experience working in the healthcare industry is highly
