Learn more at--harris.comJob Description:The Embedded Software Engineer with be responsible for research, design, and development of real-time embedded GPP software for next generation radio products, in conjunction with hardware product development.Requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, and mathematical analysis to daily taskingAnalyze requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraintsAbility to develop and analyze design tradeoffs against scope, cost, and schedule constraints--Consult with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software/firmware, and operational performance requirements of the overall systemExperience with mentoring of engineersDevelop and conduct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentationDesign, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipmentProvide technical support to internal and external customers including factory software introduction support and manufacturing issue resolutionExecution of software development process in a CMMI Level 3 environmentPerform coding and unit test of resultant software/firmwarePerform software/firmware component integrationParticipate in and lead peer reviewsIdentifying, tracking and repairing defectsQualifications:BSEE, BSCS, BSCE required with a minimum of--3 years software engineering industry experience.Experience with:--Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and C++ embedded programming.Experience with IP Networking, Wireless Networking, networking protocols and/or Ethernet switching.Preferred Additional Skills:Experience with software emulators/debuggers,--multi-threaded design,--embedded real-time operating systems, flash file systems, and XML.Experience with wireless communications systems is highly preferredExperience with board support package and driver developmentStrong proficiency with C and CORBAFamiliarity with real-time operating systems, such as QNX or LinuxExperience with design and implementation of time-critical software applicationsAbility to analyze and modify existing software to add new capabilities.Ability to work effectively in a team environment; good interpersonal and communication skillsCreativity in problem solvingUnderstands basic principles and technical concepts; position provides opportunities to apply theory to practicePlease be aware that many of our positions require a security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.-- Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.-- In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
