Required nursing licensure Description: The Registered Nurse
applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication
skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients
and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient
needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the
interdisciplinary team. The nurse provides direct care, evaluates
patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the
patient's episode. The Registered Nurse develops specialized skills
in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions. He/She
provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with
various medical conditions. The Registered Nurse is accountable for
patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care
beyond hospitalization. This includes lifestyle changes to support
health and healing. The Registered Nurse is expected to promote
comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The
nurse applies knowledge and skill in the delivery of care. They
assess patient and family needs through active listening, social
perceptiveness, and analyzing data or information obtained through
observation and communication. An individualized plan of care is
created to address the nature and scope of identified health
problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physicians,
and healthcare team members, the nurse sets goals and monitors
patient progress. The Registered Nurse adjusts the plan based on
patient response or changes in condition. Advocating for and
protecting patients' health, safety, and rights is paramount. The
nurse encourages mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team
members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Teaching others and
delegating tasks consistent with individual education and scope of
practice is essential. The Registered Nurse understands personal
responsibility for public safety through compliance with infection
prevention strategies. Motivating patients and families by teaching
them necessary skills for continuing care is part of the role. The
nurse assesses learning styles and structures sessions to maximize
understanding, seeking teachable moments during care delivery.
Questions are asked to evaluate retention of key points in the
self-care process. Tools and information are provided to assist
families after discharge. The nurse documents education provided
and the patient/family response. Quality and effectiveness of
nursing practice are systematically evaluated, and results are used
to improve care delivery. The nurse engages in self-evaluation,
identifying strengths and areas for professional development.
Accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills is
expected. The Registered Nurse uses logic and reasoning to identify
strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions, or approaches
to problems. Making meaningful connections with patients and
families is emphasized. The nurse seeks to develop a caring
relationship by being present during interactions, listening,
