Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/30/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring at least 1 year of experience and mandatory phlebotomy and IV placement competency. Details - Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) - Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a cardiac patient population - Night shift patient ratios are 6–7:1, with potential stretch to 8–10:1 if staff call-outs occur - Day/evening patient ratios are 5:1, with potential stretch to 6–7:1 - PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs - Every other weekend (EOW) required - Floating between like units required to meet facility needs - No on-call requirement - Epic EMR used; prior experience preferred - Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible, but is not guaranteed Requirements - Active NY RN license required (pending licenses not accepted) - Current BLS certification required - Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele RN experience required - Phlebotomy competency is mandatory for all RNs at this facility - IV placement competency is mandatory for all RNs at this facility - Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required - Experience with peripheral line care/management required - Experience with non-invasive airway management, including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks required - Familiarity with rapid response team protocols and isolation precautions required - 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration - Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Additional Information - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted - RTO is limited to no more than 1 week per 13-week contract; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial application - Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white American Traveler Job ID P-679850.
