2/16/2026 About the Position Job Title: Operating Room Nurse
Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Required
License: Current NYS RN License Certifications: BLS Required, ACLS
Preferred Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Those without recent Operating Room experience must participate and
pass the six-month Peri-operative 101 Education Program. Successful
completion and passing grade on the final exam is mandatory and a
condition of employment as an Operating Room RN. Minimum one year
medical/surgical experience preferred. Preceptorship, charge, and
leadership abilities preferred for experienced RNs. Strong
leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
Lethal dysrhythmia interpretation skills. On call required with a
response time of 30 minutes. Description: Must possess a thorough
knowledge of nursing principles. Ability to provide quality patient
care. Ability to assess patient's needs, including clinical,
teaching, mental, and spiritual aspects. Must recognize safety
issues to self and others. Must be able to assess and implement the
use of lifts to move patients safely. Must function well in
stressful situations. Must have good, creative problem-solving
skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and
verbal communication skills are required. Knowledge in the use of
typical clinical equipment instrumentation in providing a safe
and/or aseptic environment in an Operating Room/Ambulatory Surgery
