Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/24/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a current NY RN license and Epic EMR proficiency. Responsibilities - Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for patients with acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and sepsis - Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratios typically 5:1 and may stretch to 6-7:1; night ratios 6-7:1, may stretch to 8-10:1 if necessary - Patient care technicians assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and daily living activities - Phlebotomy team handles peripheral draws; nurses manage PICC and central line access - Special equipment includes BIPAP, CPAP, high flow, ventilators, tracheostomy, and chest tubes - Charting is done in Epic; Epic experience is required - Night shift schedule is 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00 - Every other weekend work required - Floating within scope to like units is required - No on-call responsibilities - Block scheduling may be attempted but is not guaranteed - Nurses are responsible for central and peripheral line care and non-invasive airway management - Involvement with Rapid Response Teams and implementation of isolation precautions is required - Scrub attire must be any combination of navy and white - Maximum of one week requested time off permitted per contract - Holiday coverage may be required per shift rotation - Return staff must have at least one year gap since last assignment - Assigned modules must be completed prior to start - A maximum of three call-off shifts permitted per 13-week contract Requirements - Current NY RN license in hand is required - Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Must have experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias - Epic EMR charting experience is required - No candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible - First-time travelers are accepted Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629979.
