Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment requiring a current NY license and strong Epic experience. Responsibilities - Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for adult patients - Evening nurse-patient ratios are typically 5:1 (may stretch to 6-7:1); night ratios 6-7:1 (may stretch to 8-9:1) - Shift is 4x12 hours, nights from 7:00pm to 7:00am - Every other weekend is required - Patients commonly present with acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and sepsis - Special equipment used includes BIPAP, CPAP, High Flow, ventilators, trachs, and chest tubes - Peripheral line and central line management required - Must float to like units as needed, always within scope of practice - Epic is the charting system used - PCT’s perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and assist with activities of daily living - Phlebotomy team handles all peripheral lab draws; nurses are responsible for PICC lines and central lines - Must be proficient in peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management - Expected to follow strict isolation precautions as indicated - Scrub colors are any combination of navy and white - First-time travelers accepted with Epic experience - Return staff must have at least one year gap since last assignment - RTO is limited to a maximum of one week per contract - Holiday coverage is expected per unit needs - Call off policy allows for up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment Requirements - Active NY RN license required at time of consideration - Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience - Current BLS certification required - Epic EMR experience required; first time US travelers must have prior Epic experience - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Experience with rapid response participation - No candidates living within a 75-mile radius accepted Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-621738.
