Job Title: Psych Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Psychiatry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating (Days, Evenings, Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years experience License: New York License Required Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA) Required, CPI Certification Required Must-Have: RN License (New York) Two (2) Years Experience BLS (American Heart Association) CPI Blue Card Description: Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history. Plan and provide nursing care for patients. Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options. Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans. Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications. Arrange further medical attention when necessary. Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment. Help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Test for vital signs of pain and ensure treatment of pain. Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician's written orders. Maintain patient confidentiality. Keep accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results. Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes. Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and members of the public by responding to service requests or making appropriate referrals.
