DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: Current NYS Registered Nurse. Good interpersonal skills with a willingness to listen. Working knowledge of all aspects of patient/resident care provided in the facility, Prospective Payment System, Medicare guidelines,MDS 3.0 and PDPM. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Evaluate and determine Medicare and continued Medicare coverage for both new and readmitted residents, utilizing current criteria and protocol. Completes MDS assessments according to RAI guidelines assuring the availability of supporting documentation that will maximize reimbursement both from internal and external (hospitals, outpatient facilities, etc.) sources. Coordinates and communicates pertinent information to appropriate departments in order to maximize reimbursement and to ensure regulatory compliance. Serve as a resource for staff in all aspects of Medicare/Skilled Level eligibility guidelines, reimbursement maximization and accuracy of MDS 3.0 completion. Monitors residents for skilled level of care. Coordinate other clinically required documentation for skilled services i.e. physician certifications, beneficiary notices, etc. Coordinates timely completion of MDS assessments by IDT. Clinical liaison for HMO carriers (pre-certs, ABNs, faxing, etc.). Stays abreast of changes/clarifications re: MDS 3.0, RUGS and Medicare reimbursement systems and guidelines and maintains RAC-CT certification.OTHER FUNCTIONS Assists in training of JHRs employees regarding reimbursement system and MDS completion. If youre unsure if someone needs help, ask and take appropriate action if they do.EXPERIENCE:RELATION TOTHER POSITIONS: Daily contact with and ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, community healthcare agencies and visitors.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Sits 50-75% of the day. May be required to lift (and/or move) 10-30 pounds (most frequently lifts 10-15 pounds). Occasional walking, stooping, squatting and bending. Repetitive hand/wrist movement. Subject to frequent interruptions. Physical Work Intensity level 2.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in well-lighted, ventilated office area.ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to infections, disease and disagreeable odors.May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members and visitors.VARIABLES: Generally works Monday thru Friday.
