Job ID ****** Location School of Medicine & Dentistry Full/Part Time Full-Time Favorite Job Regular/Temporary Regular Opening Full Time 40 hours Grade 000 Department of Neurosurgery Responsibilities The University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a BC/BE collaborative Pain Medicine Specialist with board certification in Anesthesiology, Neurology, or PM&R for outpatient Pain Management for our regional program based in Rochester, New York. Our candidate will join a nationally-recognized program which is focused on the treatment of chronic pain in the setting of spinal disorders and neurological disease. This program was named a Clinical Center of Excellence by the American Pain Society in 2013, the only academic medical center program in the nation to earn designation in that year. This candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that brings together clinicians from diverse specialties (neurology, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, radiology, nursing) The program s national and regional leadership owe to its integrated, outcomes driven approach to pain management delivered in close collaboration with eleven academic neurosurgeons supported by an extensive network of regional outreach clinics. The current team brings together clinicians from backgrounds in Neurology, Physical Therapy, Anesthesiology, and Nursing along with affiliate providers in pain psychology and rehabilitation specialties. There are presently nine investigator-initiated device and drug clinical trials focusing on chronic neuropathic pain and spinal disorders. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue clinical research goals as well as practice with team of experienced clinicians. Position Overview Provide direct patient care and oversight of patient care diagnosis and treatment plans for patients referred into the Pain Management Department. Develop outpatient functional assessments of pain issues including acute and chronic pain, headaches, post traumatic neuralgia, musculoskeletal problems such as back and neck pain, radiculopathies, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, neuropathies, spasticity and fibromyalgia. Successful candidates will have experience in the gamut of interventional fluoroscopy-based procedures as well as medical management of chronic pain. The role calls for collaboration in a multi-disciplinary setting with physical therapy, pain psychology, addiction medicine, and other nonpharmacological approaches.
