MARK IV Enterprises is a leading residential and commercial real estate developer in the greater upstate NY area. We have provided residential and commercial property solutions for the discriminating consumer for over 50 years. The Safety and Risk Manager (SRM) is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a safety program that aligns with all local directives, regulatory systems, contract strategies and organizational policies and procedures. The primary role of the SRM is to develop and enact practices that protect the people, the environment, property, financial and other company and customer resources. The incumbent advises on regulation changes and their implementation. He/she will provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve safe work practices and environments. The SRM leads the business safety culture and actively works with department heads to identify and reduce risks. This position is designed to establish and maintain a strong safety culture through awareness and commitment, while mitigating risk factors, for operations and maintenance; construction; and all supporting departments.The SRM will serve as primary interface between the company and the insurance carriers. The position will serve as a strategic risk advisor to the company with day-to-day responsibility for all of the coverages, claims and contracts for the company. Employee Safety & Health (ESH)Develops, implements, maintains ESH procedures and plans designed for ensuring compliance with contract requirements governing regulatory authorities and company policies.Acts as primary point of contact for all safety and risk related issues.Ensures compliance with safety procedures through inspections, training and evaluations while keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigates and establishes corrective actions for issues and complaints relating to safety and risk.Establishes and maintains a strong safety culture and continuous focus at all levels of the organization through education, awareness, recognition, etc.Leads proper execution of key safety processes, including incident investigations, near miss reports, training, recordkeeping, trend analysis, New Hire Orientation, After Action Reviews/Reports, job hazard analyses, etc.Leads preparation and participation in compliance audits; ensures ongoing compliance with processes, policies, recordkeeping, reporting, etc.Effectively and actively utilizes online safety records management database to manage incident, near miss and training records as required for all site metrics.Executes data-driven programs and analyses that identify, measure and monitor risk and safety exposures.Develops and presents management level presentations as well as contract wide briefings.Dedicates 20%+ to field time for education and inspection opportunities.Monitors and reviews subcontractor safety plans for compliance.Proactively collaborates with Human Resources and Project Management to manage Worker's Compensation, return to work, etc. Claims Administration:Manage full claims process in coordination with insurance brokerDevelop on site reporting proceduresProperly report claims to carrier as appropriateTrack and monitor open claimsSupport carrier/attorneys in researching claims and providing any evidence or supporting documentation as neededReport on claims and status on a regular basis to senior team Insurance Coverages:Work with the broker to place/renew coverages as neededCompile all necessary documentation and data for coverages Contracts:Review all contracts to confirm that appropriate insurance coverage is includedImplement new technology platform to track all contract insurance provisions and expiration dates; Work with team members to use the new system and introduce it to contractors Strategic Risk Advisor:Work proactively with broker and site team to develop and implement strategies that will lead to future reductions in premiumWork with team members and contractors when there is an atypical contract; help the team to assess the risks and identify the correct coverage Accountable For:Keeping the company leadership apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.Utilizing excellent written and oral communication skills.Timely and cost effective performance of duties.Harmoniously working with all company and customer personnel.Handling controversial situations in a courteous and professional manner.Provides clear and decisive written and oral communication. Mandatory Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):------------------Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field with 5+ years of experience in a safety/risk leadership role or 10+ years of experience without a degree.Significant working knowledge in the application of OSHA regulations as applicable to facilities maintenance, facility operations, construction, and/or industrial safety/environmental programs in a large campus environment.Demonstrated ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of process improvement, safety, and reliability.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Programs, particularly Word and Excel.Strong attention to detail and follow upwith and commitment to using technologyOutgoing personality - successful candidate will need to interact with insurance brokers and members of the maintenance, public safety, leasing, construction teams and senior management teamsBackground in real estate and/or construction a plusValid state independent driver's license with a suitable driving record. Preferred Job Requirements:Possess Safety and Risk related certifications.Experience working as a Safety ManagerExperience working in the insurance industry
