DescriptionThe Community Development Relationship Manager is responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of Credit Client Relationships. - The Relationship Manager will have annual loan origination, deposit, and cross-sell goals. -This role works closely with the Portfolio Manager to ensure efficient and sound loan underwriting, portfolio performance, maintenance, and asset quality. - This role is based in Upstate New York.Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of credit and non-credit relationships of varying size and complexity
  • Be responsible for active market coverage of prospective clients and drive new client acquisition through direct calling on clients, prospects, and centers of influence.
  • Focuses on For-Profit and Not-For-Profit developers of affordable housing and other economic revitalization projects
  • Continually raise market awareness for Citizens Bank
  • Holds primary responsibility for the client relationship, including important credit matters and developing loan structuring options
  • Stays abreast of changes in Bank products and services, is capable of identifying appropriate client product fit, and is able, at a high level, to present each product to a client or prospect -
  • Actively organizes and manages/leads Bank meetings with clients and appropriate internal partners and team members
  • Interacts with the client in order to discuss and resolve risk related issues and will help develop strategies and actions to resolve any issues that could increase risk or create losses for the Bank
  • Review, negotiate and understand complex legal documentation
  • Utilizes the resources of the Portfolio Management team effectively so as to stay engaged in driving new business and serving client needs
  • Actively coordinates with cross sell partners to help facilitate the sale of additional Bank products
  • Engage with Syndications on multi-bank transactions -Qualifications
    • Minimum eight years of relevant experience
    • Exhibits a history of competency in soliciting, developing, servicing, and structuring a wide range of secured and unsecured Community Development and Commercial Real Estate/Commercial loans, including complex transactions
    • Able to handle the most difficult and sensitive client relationships
    • Capable of handling difficult negotiations, including in the area of loan documentation
    • Demonstrate skill in the area of large exposure and complex credit management
    • Excellent credit skills
    • Responsible for cross-selling and product knowledge/application
    • Highly experienced in credit matters, able to read, interpret and understand credit issues quickly
    • Able to develop loan structuring options
    • Has knowledge of all capital market products and services offered by the Bank
    • Highly skilled in financial modeling and able to quickly structure credit in modeling environment
    • In-depth knowledge of loan and related legal documents
    • Highly developed communication skills: and ability to influence others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions
    • Independent thinker and self-starter, enthusiastic, resilient, and energeticEducation:
      • Bachelor's degree - Business administration, finance, accounting and/or economics required
