This system-level position will be responsible for assuring that Acute Care Pharmacy Services are provided in a safe and efficient manner resulting in both positive outcomes for patients and positive financial impact.The Senior Director will direct the design and implementation of acute pharmacy services to support the provision of pharmaceutical care in an efficient and effective manner. Integrate the philosophies and techniques of quality improvement. Ensure that services are provided in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and the RRH mission and policies. Assist in the recruitment and hiring of pharmacy leaders and staff. Mentor and provide leadership for the staff. Assist local leaders as needed to ensure leadership oversight. Monitor the inpatient pharmacy budget for areas of responsibility (drug spend and staffing) to ensure cost-effective services. Participate in and support various inter and intra department committees to promote the role of pharmacy in delivery of optimum patient care. Participate in educational and research initiatives in line with the mission of the organization.ATTRIBUTESGraduation from an accredited school of pharmacy is required. PharmD is preferred.A minimum of seven (7) years of inpatient pharmacy experience required.ResponsibilitiesKey collaboration with medical, nursing, and pharmacy leadership across multiple hospital sites to ensure successful assessment, engagement, and implementation of best practices.Assist with the preparation and monitor the budget for areas of responsibility, including drug and personnel costs.Assist with the recruitment, hiring and mentors staff and colleagues through feedback, positive discipline and performance evaluations. Enforce progressive corrective action appropriately.Assure pharmacy is in compliance with all federal and state regulations.Design and implement or expand new system operational services, including advanced clinical practices, optimizing medication dispensing and compounded product preparation, and inventory optimization.Develop, implement, direct and monitor the delivery of pharmaceutical care. Ensure patient/customer satisfaction and implements measures to correct perceived deficiencies in care and service.Facilitate staff involvement in established departmental programs, e.g. quality improvement, patient/professional education and staff development. Develop staff advancement opportunities and foster an environment conducive to innovation and progressive learning.Maintain a current body of knowledge in the areas of service with regard to drug therapy and technology.
