Responsibilities
Identifies and establishes strategic direction for the Network,
Telecommunications and Technical Engineering and Operations program
through development and maintenance of internal and external
customer-facing systems and programs. Assesses the relative impact
of industry trends to current and future enterprise infrastructure
and security needs and projects. Interfaces with business unit
executives and other functional area executives to define support
initiatives and solutions for improving service efficiency and
effectiveness.
- Identifies and establishes strategic direction for the Network
(MAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center), Unified Communications, Endpoint
hardware and software (desktop), Collaboration applications (such
as Office 365 email, Mobility, SharePoint, WebEx, Chat and Team
spaces), Production Print Services, Field Engineering (physical
data center) programs, through development and maintenance of
internal and external customer-facing systems and programs.
- Researches and recommends courses of action to mitigate risk
and to maintain high infrastructure service levels for the user
community. Assesses the relative impact of industry trends to
current and future enterprise infrastructure and security needs and
projects.
- Interfaces with business unit executives and other functional
area executives to define support initiatives and solutions for
improving service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensures that technology integrations meet business
requirements, employee productivity and external customer service
levels.
- Participates in IT strategy planning activities, bringing a
current knowledge and future vision of network, unified
communications, end-point, collaboration, field engineering and
production print systems and best practices (e.g., ITIL) as related
to the needs of the business.
- Defines and communicates department vision and mission.
Establishes annual goals and plans strategy for completing goals.
Establishes metrics, key performance indicators and service level
agreements for driving the performance of IT.
- Manages vendor relationships, including negotiations of
contracts, pricing, service levels, technology reviews and
selections of network, end point, unified communications,
production print, collaboration, physical data center maintenance
support for all hardware and software leading to cost
effectiveness, proper technology and support of Paychex' business
units / clients recognizing that network, unified communications,
end points, collaboration, production print, field engineering are
a very significant expense that can positively or negatively affect
company profitability.
- Directs department managers which include staff development,
performance appraisal, goal development, salary management,
training, coaching and improvement of staff performance to increase
the group's effectiveness.
- Manages company multi-million-dollar communications budget and
operating plan (Cellular, Long Distance, Network, Telecom, Local)
as well as multi-million-dollar technology expense (Data Center
Leases, IP/Voice Maintenance, Productivity systems Licensing,
Printer Maintenance, Communications Systems and Mobile Platforms,
Network). Must accurately forecast expense YoY, find ways to reduce
expense, manage technology renewals to plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business,
Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience managing large teams. Experience
managing multi-million dollar program budgets, work plans, resource
plans and overall program governance.
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology management
and leadership positions. Extensive experience delivering and
supporting robust, scalable projects.
