Position description
The director will have responsibility for the warehouse operations for the enterprise. Today, that is two (2) warehouses in Minnesota and one (1) in Jacksonville, FL. By 2023 we will add another for the Phoenix, AZ campuses. These responsibilities also include any and all distribution partnerships for 3PL and Transportation (freight).

Reports to and Receives direction from the Division Chair of Operation, Mayo Clinic Supply Chain Management. In the absence of the SCM Chair or Division Chair, this position will have the full authority and responsibility to carry out the duties associated with the day-to-day supply chain operations. Responsible for all of the medical, surgical supply warehouse operations within the Mayo Enterprise. The Director, Supply Chain Operations will work in collaboration with the administrative / finance liaison of the site and the other members of the Supply Chain Management Leadership Team (SCMLT) to effectively meet the needs of patients and the daily supply chain operations of the site. As Director, this position will be responsible for both enterprise and site-based supply chain functions, including personnel. The team reporting to the Director will be comprised of experts in functional supply chain management disciplines. The Director must function as a mentor and facilitator of professional development opportunities for the team, so that the team stays optimally aligned with the changing healthcare landscape. To be effective in this position, forming strong relationships with physicians, administration, finance, and SCMLT members will be necessary. Makes significant contributions to supporting cost containment for the Practice, orchestrating supply management initiatives, and bringing innovation to Mayo Clinic. This includes developing and participating in short-term tactics and long range plans that result in optimal use of supplies, services, inventory and performance within the Practice and supply chain management operations. Takes an active enterprise and site-based leadership role with physician and executive leadership. Develops supply chain management strategies and in addressing daily supply chain operations, including process reengineering, utilizations management, supply chain systems coordination, customer service, receiving, inventory management, asset management, and distribution. In addition, serves as the primary site-based interface to the Practice and Administration for all enterprise supply chain functions, including sourcing and contracting, informatics, analytics, the pharmaceutical formulary, information technology and telecommunications contracting, and procure-to-pay. Actively participates in the standardization/value analysis process, in providing customer service to end-users, in the awarding of contracts, and in business reviews with supplier partnerships which provide medical/surgical supplies, non-medical/surgical supplies, capital/non-capital equipment, and service agreements for the entire Mayo Clinic and Mayo Health System. This position will be responsible for managing and adhering to Shared Services and the site operating budgets, as well as understanding and contributing to meeting targets and plans for the overall enterprise Supply Chain Management budget. The position will have responsibility for oversight and management of both site based and shared services staff depending on the needs of the organization.

Qualifications
Master's degree in business, process engineering or related field and ten years of management experience, including five years of experience in progressively responsible management positions in Supply Chain. Ten years of experience in a Supply Chain environment. In lieu of a Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree in business, process engineering or related field plus twelve years of experience in a Supply Chain environment with at least five years in progressively responsible management positions in Supply Chain is required. Must have extensive product, medical equipment, and medical services knowledge. Must have broad supply chain management experience, experience with logistics and distribution, and experience with business process standardization, business process engineering and performance improvement strategies. Advanced certification in healthcare desirable. Work experience in a hospital, a multi-hospital system or other healthcare related setting is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience as and a scholarly presence on a national level.

    Additional qualifications
    Preferred: Ph.D in business, process engineering or related field.

    Experience with implementing major organizational change, including significant supply chain redesign and other operational efficiency improvements preferred. Knowledge of replenishment demand, inventory management, logistics support, and other supply chain systems and technologies is desirable. Experience in another industry is viewed positively, particularly in an industry that is viewed as having world-class supply chain management.
    Experience with cost management consultants working on non-clinical operational efficiency improvements, care process/procedural standardization improvements, and/or improved patient outcome activities is desirable.
    Experience with implementing major organizational change, including significant supply chain redesign and other operational efficiency improvements preferred.
    Certification or licensure in n purchasing/supply chain management is a plus.
    Promotes teamwork and seeks to maximize the potential of all employees.

    Must be an individual of high energy, positive attitude, and a proven track record of getting results.

    Compensation Detail
    Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $5060.00, based on a full-time position.
