Sr. Optical Metrology Engineer Description: Job Title: Sr. Optical Metrology Engineer Job ID: SIS-25752 Job Location: Rochester, NY Job Description: The professional will be expected to be the SME for solutions to challenging optical metrology problems at the system and component level. This includes integration and test of optical systems, component metrology, optical design and analysis, and uncertainty budget/requirements analysis. Additionally, the individual will be expected to interface with the customer and be able to present highly technical information in a clear and concise manner. Technical writing and communication skills are needed to help with program pursuits. The individual will need to be knowledgeable about optics and optical processing and be able to help advance our tools and methodologies. The selected candidate will perform the following duties Create, develop, and design complex optical metrology and integration plans and equipment for a wide variety of optical components and assemblies Prepare optical metrology engineering input for program reviews and customer presentations as requested Represent the organization as a prime optical technical contact on proposals, contracts, projects, and products Analyze technical problems arising in optical metrology, manufacturing, and integration and develop optimal strategies for addressing them Understand, support, and improve existing technologies and investigate, develop, and implement new technologies Develop and maintain plans, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects Key skills: Optical metrology or manufacturing experience Optical design experience Knowledge of optical tolerancing and requirements Requirements verification and generation Uncertainty budget analysis Wavefront sensing experience desired Software packages: CodeV and/or Zemax, Matlab, Mathematica, Python, FRED Scripting in Matlab desired Degrees in optics, physics, or applied mathematics Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience Knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments required Proof of strong problem solving capability and people skills, and the ability to conduct presentations for management, technical experts, and customers required. Experience with commercially available interferometry systems (ex. Zygo, 4D) and analysis software (ex. Matlab, MetroPro) required. Preferred Additional Skills: MS Degree in Optics or Physics Ability to provide strong leadership to teams made up of engineers and technicians Please be aware that many of our positions require a security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
