Materials Engineer Description: Job Title: Materials Engineer Job ID: SIS-27100 Job Location: Rochester, NY Job Description: Harris Corporation is seeking a Materials Engineer for our Rochester, New York location. The selected candidate will perform some or all the following duties. Additional duties may be required: Develop and release materials specifications, laboratory procedures, and process control procedures. Communicate with program engineers, management, and customers on technical issues and status of work. Present results of analysis to program engineers and customers on a regular basis to ensure proper interpretation and understanding. Act as a technical consultant in area of expertise providing technical specifications and materials selection guidance. Provide company-wide technical direction on FA methods, requirements, technology, and materials/process selection and lead assigned root cause/corrective action activities. Provide engineering support and direction to other staff areas in the technical area of material science. Perform technical reviews of material/component quality documentation. Perform Failure Analysis (FA) according to aerospace industry, customer and internal specifications. Direct laboratory technicians on a daily basis in support of FA and program related tasking. Produce detailed technical reports of analyses. Provide strategic facility plans to maintain applicable analytical test facilities. Interface and work with outside independent laboratories to supplement laboratory capacity and technical support. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of prior related experience, or equivalent Preferred Additional Skills: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical, or related technical discipline. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex project assignments. Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external contacts. Knowledge of PCB construction and defining standards such as IPC or equivalent. Experience or knowledge of metal finishing processes. Knowledge of electro-static dissipative materials and theory. Security Clearance: Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain one.
