Location: Rochester, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Tue Apr 5 2022 Job Description: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:The successful candidate will work primarily on characterization of photonic device performance and prepare characterization reports. The characterization engineer will specifically implement optical and electronic testing procedures for photonic devices and structures to characterize Mach-Zehnder interferometers, ring resonators, waveguides, and diodes. The engineer will use standard/specialized semiconductor and photonic testing tools and collect and analyze electrical/optical device data andperform RF/Microwave Device testing including s-parameter, as well as modulated signal measurements. The characterization engineer writes technical reports to funding agencies, customers, and for internal use, write scripts to control test equipment, and maintain and troubleshoot test equipment.Other reasonable duties as assigned Job Requirements:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Knowledge of semiconductor materials and photonic device characterization using electrical and optical tools Computer skills including MS Office, Python, LabView, and multiphysics software a plus At least one year of experience in testing and characterizing semiconductor materials and electronic and photonic devices Semiconductor test equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience preferred General laboratory and cleanroom practices Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the workday Citizen or permanent resident of the United StatesApplicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
