Our team members enjoy working directly with clients, providing solutions, and as valued members of collaborative project teams.Under the supervision of senior engineer, the Plumbing /Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for:+ Preparation of calculations, reports, and construction documents and specifications+ Prepare hydraulic calculations, plumbing design, and equipment selection+ Development of design approaches and concepts on assigned+ Conduct equipment selection+ Research NFPA Standards and Building, Plumbing, and Gas Codes+ Produce detailed plumbing and fire protection layouts in Autocad and Revit, based on applicable codes and standards+ Produce plumbing fixture schedules and riser diagrams+ Communicate with project managers, team members and clients for coordinated designs+ Provide construction phase engineering support including site observations, responding to RFIs and submittals, and close out services**Qualifications****Your Capabilities and Credentials**This is a great opportunity for a Plumbing and Fire Protection Design Engineer with experience with one of the following markets or a combination of Commercial, Institutional, Healthcare, Transportation as well as experience in Large Infrastructure Design. In addition to your engineering experience, to succeed in this role, you will need:+ Demonstrated knowledge of systems design for various projects with the ability to communicate design concepts via sketches and renderings+ A working knowledge of the various applications of fire suppression systems gained through both formal training and project experience+ Knowledge of Mechanical / Plumbing trades, building codes, typical design deliverables.+ Ability to design riser diagrams (Sanitary, Domestic Water, Storm, Gas and Fire Protection)+ Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) Certification, highly preferred+ EIT Preferred**Education and Experience**Bachelors degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in the Plumbing and Fire Protection Design field_This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice._Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other's talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
