Job Title Instructor (Svc) Job ID ****** Location Warner Grad School Education Full/Part Time Part-Time Add to My Favorite Jobs Favorite Job Regular/Temporary Regular Opening Part Time 20 hours Grade 000 Warner School of Education Responsibilities The Warner School s Center for Learning in the Digital Age (LiDA) invites applications for a part-time non-tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor/instructor rank, to play the role of Assistant Director of the Center. This is a calendar-year (12-month) clinical faculty position, with minimum 50% FTE guaranteed, with an initial contract of 3 years, renewable. Starting date should be no later than June 1, 2019. Main responsibilities for this position include: providing direct support to the Center Director in managing the Center s core initiatives and operations; teaching graduate level courses and offering professional development for which the Center is responsible; serving in selected externally funded projects undertaken by the Center; supporting grant applications (including taking primary responsibility for the Human Subject Review process); and, taking a leadership role in sharing resources and lessons learned about learning in the digital age using multiple vehicles, including the Center s website, public events and social media. The total FTE as well as the distribution of effort across these responsibilities at any point in time will depend on the Center s needs and funded projects (while guaranteeing a minimum of 50% FTE at any time). Depending on the candidate s background and Warner School s needs, there may also be additional opportunities to engage in teaching courses and/or in other Warner School projects for additional compensation, commensurate to the additional effort required by each assignment. The selected candidate will also be entitled and encouraged to seek additional external funding to support his/her scholarship, teaching and/or practice work (not to exceed full time effort). Applicants are expected to possess a doctoral degree in education or a related field (for the title of Assistant Professor), or to be pursuing such a degree (for the title of Instructor) and to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications: knowledge of applications of digital technologies for education, as needed to teach graduate courses in this area and contribute to technology-rich education innovations; ability to conduct educational research; knowledge of and practical experience in U.S. K-12 schools and/or higher education; ability to write effectively in a variety of genres and for different audiences; organizational and networking skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Preferred applicants will also have experience teaching and working in higher education settings. The position requires a commitment to school reform, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, as well as a strong theoretical background and scholarly interests focused specifically on practice. The Center for Learning in the Digital Age, within which this position is housed, is part of the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. The Warner School is currently the recipient of two grants from the National Science Foundation to prepare digitally-rich STEM teachers and teacher leaders, respectively, totaling over $4M.
