Job Description Summary
The Music Therapy program at Nazareth University invites applicants
for a 9-month full-time tenure-track faculty position in the School
of Music (Music Therapy), beginning in August, 2024.
Applicants with expertise in culturally relevant clinical practice
and teaching, behavioral health, and supporting student research
are especially sought for this position. The qualified applicant
will join colleagues within the School of Music, the College of
Interprofessional Health and Human Services, and Nazareth
University who value collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity,
and inclusion in their shared work of preparing the next generation
of music therapists.
The Nazareth Music Therapy program, established in 1980, provides
quality musical, clinical, and academic preparation for over 60
undergraduate, equivalency, and masters students, and its graduate
program qualifies students for the New York State License in
Creative Arts Therapy. The program boasts the Lipson Music Therapy
Clinic within the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, where
music therapy, art therapy, speech-language pathology, physical
therapy, occupational therapy, and social work students and faculty
collaborate to provide person-centered care for community members
of all ages. The Rochester community has the highest concentration
of music therapists in New York State outside of New York City,
providing a plethora of opportunities for clinical training and

and industry. Applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds
-Terminal degree (PhD) in music therapy or a closely related field;
-A minimum of 12 semester hours or equivalent of graduate credits
in music therapy beyond undergraduate equivalency requirements.
-Current Board Certification in Music Therapy
-New York State License in Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT) preferred;
applicants without LCAT will be expected to obtain license prior to

therapy or its equivalent.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

professional experience and stage of career.
