JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Vice President of Operations has strong leadership skills, demonstrated business acumen and financial accountability, and the ability to approach business from a creative point of view. He/She is dedicated to the support and care of our seniors. He/She will be a member of and collaborate with the executive leadership team in setting and driving organizational vision and operational strategy. He/She will be able to translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth. He/She oversees company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met. He/She ensures effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention. He/She adheres to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, and healthcare regulations, enforcing compliance and acting when necessary.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President


  • Directly oversee the operations of the housing, assisted living, community services divisions of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, and corporate dining and facilities management.
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing and Community Engagement on sales management to achieve occupancy targets.
  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement.
  • Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with senior leadership team.
  • Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the organization achieves targets relative to growth and profitability.
  • Monitor performance with tracking and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting.
  • Foster strong relationships with support departments including IT, HR, Finance, Community Engagement, and Development and maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key staff, residents, program participants, family members, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Provide Leadership in support of the Organization's Values and Competencies.
  • Provide leadership, training and mentoring to direct reports to ensure their professional growth.
  • Establish and monitor performance standards.
  • Ensure a system of annual goal setting and monitoring related to training and supervision of staff to achieve low turnover and increased skill sets among staff members.

    • MBA required; MHA preferred.
    • 15 years of progressive management experience and leadership development. Healthcare experience preferred.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated business acumen in financial analysis, planning, and budgeting.
    • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
    • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
    • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
    • Understanding of advance business planning, regulatory issues, and quality programs.
    • Ability to make independent and sound decisions while supporting the team.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build trust and credibility with staff and colleagues

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance. The ability to sit, talk, and hear is required.       WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The majority of essential job duties are performed indoors, in a normal office environment. Employee may be exposed to temperature fluctuations.

      SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: The work is performed within established guidelines, and requires periodic supervision. The employee exercises autonomy, initiative, and independent judgment to effectively perform the essential job duties of this position.

      RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: The employee has direct responsibility for others.

      SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall be fully acquainted with all safety policies and procedures and ensure each Executive Director is knowledgeable and compliant in all aspects of the Community's life safety codes as well as all facets of staff safety. Must comply with facility in-service requirements.

      Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, participants, family and staff, that may be encountered, either formally or informally, during the normal course of business. This includes medical and treatment records, financial and human resources information.
